Nestled deep in the sub-tropical forest of north-western Belize and renowned for being the largest private reserve and second largest single protected area in the country, the Rio Bravo Conservation
The RBCMA therefore plays a significant part in biodiversity conservation on a national scale, in the role of private reserves within the national protected area network and the economy of the region.
Problems of the world today are also being addressed through ecological research to maintain the diversity of life and clarify the impacts of different human activities on the forest ecosystem.
La Milpa Lodge lies nestled deep in the forests of northwestern Belize. Just three miles away, still on the RBCMA, stands the third largest archaeological site in Belize.
Hill Bank Field Station, established in 1995 is one of two lodges located on the Rio Bravo Conservation and Management Area (RBCMA). But the history of this site goes way back to when the Hill Bank area was inhabited by the ancient Maya.
We have carefully taken the time to design exciting new packages that will allow you to experience the RBCMA in an all- holistic way. Here are some of the packages we offer.
Programme for Belize would like to assist you with any concerns or with further questions you may have about the organization and our activities.

Hill Bank Field Station – Programme for Belize
We stayed at La Milpa as part of a bird photography trip. Loved the thatched roofed rooms. They were basic, but clean and comfortable. The birds and monkeys were plentiful, the walk to the Mayan ruins was enjoyable.
“Birding highlight… Other animals were bonus!”
Great cabanas, private, clean, lovely design and decoration. Fans helped but it wasn’t too hot out. Meals were amazing; lots of local ingredients.
